Relax and unwind in a stunning riverside location in our first floor detached annexe within the beautiful 2 acre grounds of The Old Mill House, on the banks of the River Stour.
Step out into a wildlife paradise
Mentioned in the Domesday Book when the rent was 10s6d per annum, there has been a water mill nestling close to the river here for centuries. The extensive Mill workings were unfortunately burned down in about 1880. The B&B stands on the site of the former granary adjacent to where the mill wheel would have been.
The wildlife visiting the Mill House grounds is diverse and captivating. 77 varieties of birds have been noted to visit the garden and river. The grounds have been designated a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI). A variety and abundance of flora and a profusion of birds, fish and mammals can be observed here. Kingfishers, egrets, herons and swans are regular visitors. Keep your eye out for the occasional otter.
Ideal for a romantic getaway, walkers and young families
We are perfectly situated for many local Dorset attractions, the lovely bays and sandy beaches of the Dorset coastline, the ferry port at Poole and for the numerous independent schools in the area.
Please note: although the river here is not deep, safety can never be over-emphasised when close to the water's edge. Children and toddlers are your responsibility.
